Beija-flor-tesoura (Eupetomena macroura) - Swallow-tailed Hummingbird

Os beija-flores chamam a atenção pela sua coloração forte e brilhante, pela sua forma delicada e pelo seu vôo, as vezes rápido, as vezes pairando no ar.

O Beija-flor-tesoura é o mais comum dos beija-flores brasileiros, com até 19 cm de comprimento, é um dos maiores deste grupo de pássaros, sendo que a sua cauda é mais comprida que o seu própio corpo.

The hummingbirds are notable for their bright color and strong for their delicate shape and their flight, sometimes fast, sometimes hovering in the air.

Como outros beija-flores alimenta-se do néctar das flores, mas pode ocasionalmente capturar pequenos insetos. É uma espécie territorialista, e defende seu território com investidas rápidas contra os invasores. E é respeitado!

Like other hummingbirds feed on the nectar of flowers, but may occasionally capture small insects. It is a territorial species, and defends its territory with fast attack flights against the invaders. And is respected!

Um fato que julguei interessante é que para vocalizar o seu canto coloca a sua língua para fora do bico.

Ferreirinho-relógio (Todirostrum cinerium) - Common Tody-Flycatcher

Este pássaro já foi apresentado anteriormente neste blog, porém ao encontrá-lo novamente não pude deixar de fotografá-lo.

O nome comum deste pássaro vem da semelhança que seu canto apresenta com o ato de se dar corda em relógio. Relógio antigo, é claro, uma vez que os relógios modernos são a bateria e não necessitam de corda.

Trata-se de um pássaro insetívoro que se alimenta principalmente de dipteros (moscas) e lepidopteros (borboletas). São bastante ativos e irriquietos, sendo por este motivo difíceis de fotografar para aqueles que não usam o recurso de gravador com o som de seu canto. Em sua agitação, apresentam a característica de movimentar a cauda lateralmente, como ilustrado em uma das fotos.

Esta espécie é considerada como "pouco preocupante" quanto a sua existência. Tem ampla distribuição pelo Brasil, e pode ser observado em locais urbanizados, principalmente onde existe vegetação arbórea.

Arapaçu-do-Cerrado (Lepidocolaptes angustirostris) - Narrow-billed Woodcreeper



Já havia observado este pássaro no local, porém sem conseguir fotografá-lo devido a sua grande mobilidade. Está sempre em movimento a procura de insetos e larvas nas ranhuras das cascas das árvores. Quando se sente observado procura sempre se esconder no lado oposto do tronco em relação ao observador. Escala os troncos da árvores com muita rapidez e habilidade.

Balança Rabo Mascarado ( Polioptila dumicola) - Masked Gnatcher

Neste último fim de semana registramos mais uma espécie que ocorre na região, que foi visto por meu filho que me acompanhava no passeio para observação de pássaros. Trata-se do Balança-Rabo-Mascarado (Polioptila dumicola), um pássaro pequeno e bastante irriquieto, que fica  constantemente pulando de galho em galho dificultando a sua observação e obtenção de uma boa foto. São insetívoros, o que talvez justifique a sua frequente mobilidade, para procura e captura de insetos.

This last weekend we recorded another species that occurs in the region, which was seen by my son who accompanied me on the ride for bird watching. This is the Masked Gnatcacher (Polioptila dumicola), a little bird and very restless, which is constantly jumping from branch to branch making it difficult to observe and get a good picture. They are insectivores, which may justify their frequent mobility, to seek out and capture insects.

A cor dos olhos do Biguá (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) - The eye color of Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus).

Depois de várias semanas volto a postar uma foto de uma ave muito comum aqui na região (São Manoel - Represa de Barra Bonita). Trata-se do Biguá (Phalacrocorax brasilianus), cujos olhos são difíceis de observar, mas que apresentam uma coloração bastante bonita.

Outro detalhe interessante desta ave, é que pode ser confundida com algum tipo de pato, entretanto observando o seu bico, é possível verificar que é bastante diferente do bico do pato, sendo adaptado para captura de peixes, que compõem sua alimentação.

After several weeks, I post a picture of a very common bird here in the region (São Manoel, SP - Barra Bonita Dam). This is the Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus), whose eyes are difficult to observe, but present a very beautiful color.

 Another interesting detail of this bird, that can be mistaken with a kind of duck, but looking at your bill, we can see that is quite different from the beak of the duck, being adapted for catching fish, which make up their diet.

 

 

 

Savacu (Nycticorax nycticorax): Na hora de se alimentar merece respeito. Black-Crowned Night-Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax): In it's feed time deserves respect.

Nas imagens seguintes é possível visualizar a capacidade que o Savacu (Nycticorax nycticorax) possui para capturar e engolir presas de considerável tamanho, principalmente em relação ao diâmetro de seu pescoço. Igualmente admirável é o seu estômago e sistema digestivo, pois o Cascudo (Hypostomus plecostomus), a presa neste caso, é um peixe que apresenta uma pele dura e resistente, coberta com escamas grandes e fortes, que lhe confere uma dureza e aspereza considerável.

In the following pictures is possiblee to see the ability that the Black-Crowned Night-Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) has to capture and swallow prey with considerable size, especially in relation to the diameter of it's neck. Equally impressive is it stomach and digestive system, because the Sucker-mouth Catfish (Hypostomus plecostomus), the prey in this case, is a fish that has a hard and tough skin covered with big and strong scales, which gives it a considerable hardness and roughness.
