Mãe-da-lua ou Urutau (Nictibius griseus) - Common Potoo

O nome Urutau me parece mais adequado, pois assim foi chamado originalmente pelos índios (ameríndios), que em tupi-guarani significa "ave fantasma".

O motivo deste nome vem certamente da incrível capacidade que estes pássaros apresentam em "sumir" na paisagem e serem difícieis de serem vistos ou percebidos. Posicionam-se durante o dia, de tal maneira em pontas de galhos que confundem-se com o próprio galho. Escolhem locais cuja coloração seja muito parecida com a de suas penas, confundindo-se ainda mais no cenário. Permanecem imóveis durante o dia, saindo para se alimentar à noite.

Este eu fotografei pela manhã, e retornando ao local à tarde encontrei-o no mesmo local.

The name Urutau seems to me more appropriate, because it was originally called by the Indians (Amerindians), which in Tupi-Guarani means "ghost bird".

 The reason for this name is certainly the amazing ability of these birds to "disappear" in the landscape and the difficult to be seen or perceived. Position themselves during the day, so at tips of branches that are confused with the actual branch. Choose places which the color is very similar to their feathers, even more confusing with the place. Remain motionless during the day, coming out to feed at night.
