When I was doing the photos used to the posting of 02/12/2011 about the Urutau (Nictibius griseus) I was surprised by the presence of the couple of Purple-throated Euphonia (Euphonia chlorotica), which was the subject of this blog 29/11/2011 . It just so happened that I came to photograph both species, and when I realized that the couple registered Purple-throated Euphonia were working on building its nest.

Purple-throated Euphonia male with spider web at the beak to be used in building the nest.
Soon after I realized that another bird (a Saffron Finch female), to the despair of the couple of Purple-throated Euphonia, began to approach with interest in the nest that was being built.
In the next weekend, I returned to the same place to see if the Common Potoo and the couple of Purple-throated Euphonia and did not find neither one nor the other. To my surprise and a certain amount of unhappiness, the nest was being occupied by the female Saffron Finch who took over the space of the Purple-throated Euphonia couple . I am referring to the fact with some regret because the Saffron Finch are abundant in the region, which does not happen with the Purple-throated Euphonia that are less frequent and more rare to be observed . Unfortunately I could not keep up with the couple of Purple-throated Euphonia to create their young.
O macho invasor - The male intruder
A femea invasora - The female intruder
O casal discutindo - The couple arguing
A fêmea ganhou a discussão e vai entrar primeiro - The female won the argument and will come first
Lá vai ela - There it goes
