Saíra-Amarela (Tangara cayana) – Burnished-Buff Tanager

Consta na literatura especializada que o Saíra-amarela não costuma juntar-se a outras Saíras da mesma espécie, porém é comum avistá-las junto a Sanhaçus-cinzentos. Foi o que aconteceu neste caso.

A pitangueira (Eugenia uniflora), cheia de frutos maduros, atraiu muitos pássaros sendo que a maioria Sanhaçus-cinzentos, e esta Saíra-amarela estava junto com o bando de sanhaçus.

Muitas pessoas já perguntaram qual seria ou seriam as espécies vegetais que podem atrair pássaros? Com certeza podemos afirmar que a pitangueira (Eugenia uniflora) é uma espécie de árvore frutífera indicada para plantio de locais para onde se deseja atrair pássaros. A presença de sanhaçus e saíras-amarelas estará garantida.

The literature reports that the Burnished-Buff Tanager not usually joins other birds of the same species, but it is common to see them with the SayacaTanager (Tangara sayaca). It happened in this case.

The Surinam cherry tree (Eugenia uniflora), full of ripe fruits, attracted many birds, most Sayaca Tanager, and the Barred Antshrike was in the bunch.

I've heard people asking about what would be those plants that can attract birds? We can certainly say that the Surinam cherry (Eugenia uniflora) is a species of fruit trees suitable for planting of places where you want to attract birds. The presence of Sayaca Tanager and the Barred Antshrike will be assured.

Choca-barrada (Thamnophilus doliatus) – Barred Antshrike

Dentre os pássaros denominados “choca”, este é o de distribuição mais ampla e que mais se aproxima do ser humano, tanto por não ser arisca quanto por ser bem generalista e se adaptar a áreas alteradas.

Sua distribuição original compreendia cerradões, bordas de matas de galeria e outras formações florestais não muito densas. No fim da década de 80 sua aparição em áreas urbanas foi até motivo para publicações em periódicos ornitológicos, mas hoje em dia sua presença em nossas cidades já não é mais novidade e já foi encontrada até mesmo em parques próximos a grandes centros urbanos, até mesmo fora de sua distribuição original que era restrita a áreas de cerrado.

A choca-barrada costuma ser vista aos casais, nas copas de árvores baixas ou nos estratos florestais médios, alimentando-se basicamente de insetos que são capturados nas copas das árvores. É territorial, ao menos na época de reprodução.

Pertence à família Thamnophilidae, cujos representantes apresentam uma curiosa característica de seguirem o movimento das formigas nas copas das árvores, para capturarem os insetos afugentados pelas formigas.

Among the birds of this group, its distribution is broader and get more closely resembles human being, both for not being shy as to be quite general and adapt to altered areas.
Its original distribution included cerradões, edges of gallery forests and other forest formations not too dense. In the late 80’s, its appearance in urban areas was even reason to subjects in ornithological journals, but nowadays its presence in our cities is no longer new and has been found even in parks near major urban centers, even outside the “cerrado” (bush), its original place of living.
The Barred Antshrike often seen in pairs, in the crowns of trees or in low average forest strata, mostly feeding on insects that are caught in the trees. It is territorial, at least during the breeding season.
Belongs to the Thamnophilidae family, whose representatives have a curious characteristic of following the movement of ants in the trees, for capturing insects driven away by the ants.

Bigodinho ou Correntino (Sporophila lineola) - Lined Seedeater

Este pássaro apareceu no terreno ao lado de minha casa quando estava saíndo com o carro para retornar para Piracicaba. A câmera estava desmontada, dentro da mochila, no banco de trás. Desci do carro, montei a lente objetiva na câmera e ele ainda estava lá. Fiz algumas fotos no meio do capim, onde se alimentava das sementes e registrei assim a ocorrência de mais este representante da família Emberezidae no local. A vida é assim: quando menos se espera aparecem as oportunidades. Cabe a nós aproveitá-las ou não.

This bird appeared on the ground next to my house when I was leaving the house with my car to return to Piracicaba. The camera was dismantled, inside the backpack, in the backseat. I got out, I set the objective lens on the camera and it was still there. I took some pictures, when it was  feeding  seeds on the grass, and recorded the occurrence of one more representative of the family Emberezidae who lives on site. Life is like this: when you least expect opportunities appear. It behooves us to take them or not.

Infelizmente este pássaro também é ainda muito perseguido por caçadores, por apresentar um canto harmonioso.

Unfortunately this bird is also still pursued by hunters collectors, to present a harmonious way of singing.

Coleirinho Ou Papa-Capim (Sporophila caerulescens) - Double-Collared Seedeater

Este registro é um tributo ao passarinho que muito me faz lembrar minha infância, quando era muito abundante em campos e pastagens. Hoje, ainda é alvo de colecionadores de pássaros em gaiolas, e sua ocorrência já não é tão frequente. Comemorei o encontro com este pequeno indivíduo livre na natureza. Dedico esta postagem ao meu filho, que também é admirador deste pássaro.

This record is a tribute to the bird that really reminds me of my childhood, when it was very abundant in fields and pastures. Currently, remains the target of birdas collectors, and its occurrence is not as frequent. I celebrated the encounter with this little guy, free in nature. I dedicate this post to my son, who also is an admirer of this bird.

O Sabiá-barranco é um pássaro comum no local. Este particularmente, parecia estar esperando ser fotografado. Não pude deixar de atender a sua disponibilidade.

Águia Pescadora (Pandion haliaetus) - Osprey

No último domingo pela manhã (15/01/12), um dia nublado e com muito vento, eu estava observando um grupo de aves às margens da represa Barra Bonita, quando inesperadamente apareceu uma grande ave de rapina que, por alguns segundos, aparentou observar em voo, o mesmo grupo de aves que eu observava.

On Sunday morning (01.15.12), a cloudy and windy day, I was watching a group of birds on the banks of the Barra Bonita dam, when suddenly appeared a large bird (an eagle), for a few seconds, observing in flight, the same group of birds that I was watching .

Foi tudo rápido, e foi possível fazer apenas umas poucas fotos, pois a águia rapidamente se afastou. Não consegui boas fotos, porém servem para registro do evento.

Everything happened very fast, and could make only a few pictures, because the eagle quickly flew away. I did not get good pictures, but are good enough to register the event.

Além de nunca antes haver observado um ave igual na região, me chamou a atenção o tamanho do animal. Consultando um guia sobre aves e o site www.wikiaves.com.br, pareceu-me tratar-se da Águia Pescadora (Pandion haliaetus), cuja envergadura pode chegar a 2,0 m. Uma ave grande sem dúvida. É originária da América do Norte, onde se reproduz, vindo para América do Sul durante o inverno no hemisfério norte. Sua ocorrência já foi registrada em vários estados do Brasil.

In addition to never had before seen a bird like this one in the region, caught my eye the size of the animal. Consulting books on birds and the www.wikiaves.com.br site, it seemed to me to be the Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), whose wingspan can reach 2.0 m. A big bird indeed. It comes from North America, where it reproduces, coming to South America during the winter in the northern hemisphere. Its occurrence has been reported in several states in Brazil.

Acho que estamos no auge da temporada de Cabeça Secas na região. Eles estavam presentes em grande número e em vários locais, com grande movimentação.

Pardal (Passer domesticus) – House Sparrow

Ruidoso, ousado e sociável. Numeroso e prolífero,  em áreas urbanas é o pássaro mais comum e conhecido. Seu nome, pardal, já foi apelido da nota de Cr$ 1,00 (Um cruzeiro), moeda anterior ao Real no Brasil, por não valer nada e haver muitas em circulação.

Loud, brash, gregarious, numerous and prolific, in urban areas, is the bird more common and known. Your name, sparrow, had been the nickname of the note of Cr $ 1.00 (One “Cruzeiro”), the money in Brazil before the Real, not worth anything and too many in circulation.

Frequentemente tenho observado que ocupam ninhos ou casas desocupadas do João de Barro (Furnarius rufus) para fazerem seus próprios ninhos.

É possivel notar que, literalmente, fazem outro ninho dentro da casa do João de Barro. Recentemente, encontrei a seguinte cena, onde um filhote de pardal morreu precocemente na saída do ninho (motivo desconhecido), e não pude deixar de pensar sobre a transitoriedade da vida.

Fogo-apagou (Columbina squammata) - Scaled Dove

As penas desta pomba conferem-lhe uma aparência semelhante a escamas, muito bonita e peculiar. Na minha opinião é uma das nossas pombas mais bonitas.

A que aparece nas fotos fez o seu ninho no telhado da área de serviço, em uma casa de um sítio pertencente a um amigo meu, localizado no município de Piracicaba, SP., que foi o autor dos registros das imagens. Estando o sítio na macro região dos rios Piracicaba Tietê, faço aqui a inclusão da espécie na relação das aves que nela podem ser encontradas.

Agradeço muito ao meu amigo Claudimir pela lembrança e consideração.

The feathers of the dove shown on the pictures below, give it an appearance similar to scales as the name suggests, very beautiful and peculiar. In my opinion is one of our most beautiful doves. In portuguese the common name of this bird comes from the sound of their singing that corresponds to the traduction of "fire off" to portuguese.

 The dove in the photos made ​​her nest on the roof of the service area in a house located in a small farm of a good friend of mine, located in Piracicaba, SP., The author records and sent me the images. Once the place is located in the macro region of Piracicaba and Tietê rivers, I include here the species in the relation of the species of birds that here can be found and watched in these days.
